Phi Alpha Delta is the largest co-ed professional law fraternity in the United States. There are currently 316 pre-law chapters, 206 law school chapters, and 99 alumni chapters spread across 38 districts in the United States (including Puerto Rico), Canada, and Mexico. There are over 330,000 members to date. Approximately 1 of 6 attorneys, 1 of 5 federal judges, and 3 of 10 state judges are members of Phi Alpha Delta. Notable alumni include 6 former presidents, 4 sitting Supreme Court Justices, and a former Vice President.

  • No. PAD is open to students with any major or career interest. Many members are exploring law, government, public policy, business, or advocacy.

  • Students from all majors and all class years are welcome, including first-years through seniors.

  • Not at all. PAD values interest and curiosity, not previous legal internships or coursework.

  • Recruitment is low-pressure and informational. Events are designed to help you learn about PAD, meet members, and decide if it’s the right fit for you.

  • No. Talking with brothers is meant to help you ask questions and get to know the organization, not to test or judge you.

  • No. Participation is encouraged but never required. You can listen, observe, or join group conversations at your own pace.
